Unsolved cases

​​The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) works in partnership with local law enforcement agencies, providing investigative and specialized law enforcement services to help solve crimes. But sometimes, information key to solving a case comes from the public. 
 
 
The goal of this section of our website is to show you information about certain unsolved cases in the hopes that it will trigger a memory or encourage you to tell what you know about a case. 
 
Cases include unsolved homicides, missing person cases and unidentified person case​s. We hope you’ll join us as we work to bring justice to the victims and answers to their families.​

Missing and Unidentified Persons Clearinghouse

The Minnesota Missing and Unidentified Persons Clearinghouse provides assistance to law enforcement agencies investigating missing or unidentified people. Information about certain people who have been reported missing to law enforcement is provided on this website.

Cold Case Playing Cards

The BCA, partnered with the Minnesota Department of Corrections and law enforcement agencies statewide to create a deck of cold case playing cards. These cards highlight 52 violent unsolved homicide missing person and unidentified person cases that have occurred throughout Minnesota in the past 50 years.

 
 

Spotlight On Crime

Spotlight on Crime is a reward fund that focuses exclusively on helping Minnesota law enforcement agencies solve violent crimes. It is a unique public-private partnership between Minnesota’s business community and the state’s crime fighters. Since 2001, Spotlight on Crime has offered more than $1.4 million in rewards for information on 26 cases.
