Predatory Offender Registry: Information for registrants

This page is not meant to be all-inclusive. The information below is not intended to be legal advice. For specific information about registration requirements you must refer to Minnesota law.

Here are the offenses that require registration

Registration Steps

1

Provide a DNA sample, current photos and fingerprints to the law enforcement agency or your corrections agent.

2

Complete a court notification at the time of sentencing if requested.

3

Complete Predatory Offender Registry (POR) registration form with your corrections agent or Minnesota law enforcement authority.

Ongoing registration requirements

Once registered, the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) will mail verification forms to your primary address once a year. All registrants must complete and return the form within 10 days. The BCA does not confirm whether a verification form has been sent or whether a completed form has been received. Registrants may confirm the status of your letter.

Level 3 registrants and those civilly committed as sexually dangerous persons or sexual psychopathic personalities must complete verification forms twice a year.

Law enforcement and corrections agents may obtain updated photos at a time or frequency chosen by the authority.

Submit additional forms that apply to your circumstances

Complete a Change of Information form with your corrections agent or law enforcement agency under the circumstances listed below. Law enforcement, corrections and the BCA cannot change your information over the phone or with an email.
